TechCrunch is reporting that Italian restaurant and catering companies are moving in on the catering market with a new breed of chefs.
Maggica &.; Del Perros is bringing back its old-school Italian-style pizzas and serving them in a new space, and the catering industry has been looking for a new home.
The company has been working with a handful of partners to make the business sustainable, and this has included a new food and beverage partner called La Pizzeria.
“It’s a brand new company and we’re trying to develop a relationship with them, but also a partnership with the chef, the chef-owner,” Maggia &.
Del Perrols owner Mario Santarelli told TechCrunch.
“We’re in a space that’s very similar to what we have here.
It’s a very relaxed environment.”
Maggicas owner and chief executive Roberto di Bonaventura told the outlet that the company is already seeing a change in the market.
The move into catering has been a gradual process, and di Bonava said he expected it to be about two years before the company makes its first sale.
The pizza chain has been experimenting with catering since the start of the recession, but Di Bonava explained that he expects the catering space to grow exponentially in the coming years.
